Pathways Intern - Humanities Programs

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent federal agency that provides support to advance and disseminate knowledge in all of the disciplines of the humanities: history, literature, linguistics, archaeology, jurisprudence and the history, criticism and theory of the arts.

In support of the NEH mission, the NEH Pathways Internship Program provides paid opportunities for current students accepted for enrollment in qualifying educational programs.

Pathways interns should assume that they will be participating in 100% telework.

Pathways Student Interns will perform some and/or all of the following duties in support of the various offices and divisions within the NEH:

· Assists in day-to-day operations through performing a mixture of routine and sometimes complex tasks.

· Performs a variety of program support functions, such as inputting, assigning, maintaining, monitoring, or updating work products and records as well as administering and performing other support activities.

· Assists in developing material for briefings, reports, presentations and conferences for division/office staff and supervisors.

· Assists in collecting, organizing and maintaining program and/or functional documentation and materials.

· Prepares a variety of correspondence, memoranda, and information.

· Participates in support of panel meetings, briefings, and other NEH events.

Potential 2021 participating Divisions:

· Division of Challenge Programs - provides support for cultural and educational institutions which will enable them to increase their financial stability and preserve or improve the quality of their humanities programs.

· Office of Digital Humanities - supports humanities projects that utilize or study the impact of digital technology.

· Division of Education Programs - designed to strengthen sustained, thoughtful study of the humanities at all levels of education through grants to educational institutions.

· Office of Federal-State Partnerships - serves as the liaison between the National Endowment for the Humanities and the humanities council network to advance knowledge and understanding of the humanities and increase public awareness of and access to the humanities throughout the United States.

· Division of Preservation and Access - provides leadership and support for a sustained national effort to preserve and increase the availability of resources important for research, education, and public programming in the humanities.

· Division of Public Programs - supports projects in museums, historical organizations, libraries, public broadcasting, and related agencies as part of the division's efforts to foster public engagement in and appreciation of the humanities.

· Research Programs - strengthens sustained, thoughtful study of the humanities at all levels of education and promote original research in the several disciplines of the humanities through grants to educational institutions, fellowships to scholars and teachers, and through the support of significant research.
