VT Language Research Showcase- submission deadline this week!

The Undergraduate Linguistics Club is excited to host the first VT Language Research Showcase, to be held on April 23rd from 3:00-6:00pm via Zoom.

Are you conducting research about a language, linguistics, language development, speech pathology, or a related field? Students interested in language from all fields are invited to present their work to colleagues at Virginia Tech through this event. Student presentations will consist of a pre-recorded 5 minute long video with 1-2 minutes for live Q&A sessions after each video.

The showcase will also feature 3 guest speakers:

Dr. Robin Panneton, 3:00pm - Associate Professor at VT in the Departments of Psychology and Developmental Science. She also is co-Director of the iLEAP Lab at VT, which studies language development in infants and children.

Mylinh Buckley, 4:00pm - VT Language Sciences Alum now studying Linguistics at George Mason University.

Dr. Daniel Hoek, 5:00pm - Assistant Professor at VT in the Department of Philosophy. His studies focus on the pragmatics and meaning of conversational speech.

If you are conducting language-related research (classwork, independent study, research assistant work, etc.) and would like to be considered for presenting at this event, please fill out this Google Form with information about your research, including a ~250 word abstract.
