Comparative Biomechanics Research Position

Due September 14th!

The Socha Lab is looking for undergraduate volunteers to conduct research in the area of comparative biomechanics. Their lab studies how animals function from a mechanical perspective, specifically focusing on locomotion and internal physiological flows. Undergraduate researchers work collaboratively with experienced mentors (PhD students and postdocs) on projects involving animals such as flying snakes, skittering frogs, and insects.

Research tasks will vary and may include working with animals, experimental design, programming, 3D visualization, data collection and analysis, and presentation and writing. The time commitment is 5-10 hours per week for the fall semester, with a possible renewal for the spring semester dependent on performance.

No prior experience or specific academic rank are required. To apply, send the following by email to Dr. Jake Socha (jjsocha@vt.edu): resume, unofficial transcript, and a paragraph explaining why you are applying, by September 14th.
