STEM Bridge Scholarship

The Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) provides STEM Bridge Scholarships of $1,000 to sophomores from any federally recognized minority group. Students must be enrolled full-time in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program at one of the five Virginia Space Grant member universities. Awards are renewable for one year.

The purpose of the scholarship program is to 'bridge' students to future research opportunities and/or internships with NASA and VSGC. Scholarship recipients make connections to current VSGC scholars, fellows, faculty and research related to NASA’s mission.

Application Deadline: March 12, 2018

Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizenship

  • Member of a federally recognized minority group (African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino or Pacific Islander)

  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (minimum 12 credit hours) at one of the Virginia Space Grant Consortium member institutions (Virginia Tech is a member)

  • Must have completed at least one semester majoring in STEM at time of application and be a sophomore during the 2018-19 academic year

  • You must have a grade point average of at least 3.0

  • Must be in a program of study demonstrating an interest in STEM or supporting NASA's mission.

Please note that the award is contingent upon review of spring 2018 final transcript. Sophomores must not graduate before May 2021, Juniors must not graduate before May 2020.

The Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) is a coalition of five Virginia colleges and universities, NASA, state educational agencies and other institutions representing diverse STEM education and research. VSGC offers a wide range of student opportunities including fellowships, scholarships, internships, research experiences, and student flight projects.
