Summer Internships at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research

The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) has opened two applications for their summer research internship programs. NIBR is a leading global pharmaceutical corporation where you can gain practical experience and contribute to the search for new disease therapies. Through scientific research programs at NIBR, your contribution to the search for new disease therapies can begin before you graduate. The programs are designed to introduce talented students to drug discovery and to offer rigorous research training in this area.

Scientific Summer Scholars Program

When: June 4 - August 10, 2018

What: Research training opportunities for students to gain research experience, enhance preparation in applying to top graduate and professional programs, and gain exposure to NIBR's approaches to patient-driven research. Scholars work on their own project with the guidance of a NIBR scientist. NIBR's research covers many disease, science, and technology areas that allow us to closely match your specific interests with one of our labs.

Where: Opportunities at our headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts as well as their Emeryville, California location

Pay: It is a paid, full time position, with housing and travel support

Eligibility:

  • Students who have completed their sophomore year in college or university but not have graduated from a Master's degree program prior to the start of the scholars program

  • Have a strong desire to pursue graduate-level education in biological sciences, chemistry or computational sciences

  • At least a G.P.A of 3.3 out of a 4.0 scale.

Application are a multi-step process which includes a Cover Letter Form, Curriculum Vitae (CV) Form, Application, 3 letters of recommendation and an official transcript.

The Global Discovery Chemistry Department

The other program is being run internally by the Global Discovery Chemistry department and will likely have similar learning opportunities and pay, but a slightly different selection criteria with emphasis on chemistry or biochemistry experience.

To apply: Email your resume/CV (Required) as well as a cover letter and research summary (both optional) to gdc.internships@novartis.com.

Application Deadline: December 31st, 2017.

Students may feel free to apply to both programs if they wish.
