Molecular Neurobiology Research Assistant

Are you a senior majoring in any science who is looking a challenging research experience?

A research assistant position is open to work on a project involving tissue culture, high throughput screening, and electrophysiology of NMDA ionotropic glutamate receptors in Costa lab located at VT Center for Molecular Medicine and Infectious DIseases (CMMID). An undergraduate degree in any science (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, systems biology, CMDA, etc.) subject and/or previous exposure to molecular biology techniques is desirable but not required. The person will get opportunity to learn computational structural biology, electrophysiology, in-vitro and in-vivo pharmacology techniques.

Research assistants get first author publication from this lab!

CMMID Facilities:

The center's facilities are designed to create an environment that fosters collaboration and interaction between research laboratories.

Veterinary Medical Research Center - The center's main facility, located on Prices Fork Road in Blacksburg, houses bacteriologists, parasitologists, Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine adjunct faculty, and includes the Infectious Disease Unit.

Integrated Life Sciences Building - Located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, this facility houses researchers from multiple university departments and disciplines, including our college, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Science, and the College of Natural Resources.

Infectious Disease Research Facility - Located adjacent to the college's teaching hospital, this facility houses college faculty specializing on immunology, infectious diseases, autoimmunity, and regenerative medicine.

Life Sciences Building - Located on Washington Street on Virginia Tech's campus, the facility houses faculty from our college and the College of Science, with specializations in microbiology, infectious diseases, immunology, and proteomics.
